Rules:

This is GaaMatsu fanfiction contest, meaning Gaara and Matsuri must be the main focus of the story. It doesn't have to be a romance. All genres are allowed: hurt&comfort, angst, drama, horror, humor, family, friendship, romance, adventure. You may incorporate other Gaara or Matsuri pairings for some spice but happy endings are allowed for GaaMatsu only.

All pairings involving other characters are allowed, yaoi and yuri included. You can incorporate original characters into the plot too. No serious bashing on any characters/pairings! We do not want haters to enter the contest!

AU is allowed, including crossovers, modern world, and so on.

We don't accept a mature content because we want all our members, watchers, and visitors, to be able to read contest entries. So no explicit scenes, incest, excessive violence, mpreg, fetishes, and so on. If you feel compelled to write those listed above, and you still want to enter the contest, this is what you do: Upload the censored and uncensored version to dA, submit the censored version to the contest folder, and give a link to the uncensored version in the description.

Each contest entry must be written in English.

Anyone can submit an entry, not only group members. One entry per contestant is allowed. Please remember that this is a contest. Make your entry worth it!

Each entry must be a new fanfic written for this contest. Works in progress are not allowed. Required length: min 1,500 words.

The contest, the theme you've chosen, and a link to the group must be mentioned in your Art Description.

Oneshots and multi-chapters are allowed. If you write a multi-chapter, submit only 1st chapter to the contest folder, and add the link to next chapters in the Art Description.

Entries that are against the contest rules will be removed from the contest folder.

If you try to influence judges to vote on your entry, you will be disqualified.

Q.  i must pick only one theme??? what if i can write for more into one story?
A. You have to pick one theme and give it in your art description. You are still allowed to incorporate other themes into your story though. For example, you may write about Gaara and Matsuri being teacher and student, and falling for each other. There is more than 1 theme fitting in this case. There could be 2nd theme or 7th theme given. What would you choose is up to you.

Q: is it okay if my entry haves maybe three chapters?
A: Three chapters are fine but please don't forget to submit only first chapter to the contest folder. You give links to other chapters in the description. This rule has been set so judges wouldn't be confused about the number of entries.

Q: are we allowed to make only happy endings ? Not sad ones ?
A: I guess you're referring to the rule #1 _{This is GaaMatsu fanfiction contest, meaning Gaara and Matsuri must be the main focus of the story. It doesn't have to be a romance. You are allowed to make a sad ending, even a tragic one, as long as it doesn't violate the above rule and the rule #2 _{All pairings involving other characters are allowed, yaoi and yuri included. A: Yes it's alright.

My Glimmer of Light: A GaaMatsu Fanfic                                     
I don't think that I can quite....feel anything anymore....is that odd? I thought it was just my wounds....but even pain demands to be felt does it not? Blood also demands to be seen...but I don't even know what I'm looking at anymore. The last thing I remember for sure...was a skeleton wielding a huge sword. It would seem the world around me was beyond my crippled senses..but my memory was crystal clear. Was I dead? That was up for debate for sure. I couldn't seem to move a single bone in my body, not even a twitch of my finger.
It truly seemed that the light would never again find me...had it ever really found me in the first place? Perhaps I only found a window leaking the light, maybe it was just a desire of lust and desire how would I know? Maybe I had only been tasting the light...never truly living in

    "Gaara-sama, you are still awake?"
    I lifted my eyes, feeling that her voice pulled me back to reality; she was standing in the middle of my office with her hands at her hips and trying to form a strictly expression.
    "Matsuri?" I muttered, suddenly feeling a wave of dizziness. I took a deep breath placing two fingers at my right temple, slowly making a couple or circles. "What time is it?" I asked, noticing how dark it was.
    She made that face and we stayed looking at each other, like she wanted to give me some time to realize on my own. But with every passing second I was feeling even more tired and my mind was refusing to cooperate. Apparently it was too late at night, or early in the morning, but with the work I didn’t realize how time passed.

Give him mine.“Here are the last results of Mr. Hatake’s eye surgery, Dr. Fukumoto.” Matsuri nodded as she took the manila folder from the nurse. “Thank you, Emiko. I believe your shift is over, is that right?”
Emiko nodded enthusiastically with a bright smile. “Today’s the anniversary of me and my boyfriend being together for five years! I can’t wait to get home,” she squealed while she hugged herself out of glee. “Then hurry up and go see him,” Matsuri shooed teasingly with a gentle smile, “wouldn’t want to keep him waiting.” The nurse laughed wholeheartedly and put on her jacket. “Then I’ll see you tomorrow!  Good night, Dr. Fukumoto.” Emiko waved and disappeared through the swinging doors.
It was eleven o’clock in the evening, and the number of visitors at the Suna hospital has thinned out. There were no more surgeries planned for the day; the only thing Matsuri still needed to do was

So, the contest is closed. Seems people are not interested in writing GaaMatsu stories xD We have only 4 entries. Well, better that than nothing

Now is the judging part. This is how it works. Each judge has 100 points (not dA points, mind xD), and they have to distribute points amongst participants according to their personal opinions.

Ex.

Entry 1 - 50 points, entry 2 - 40 points, entry 3 - 10 points

The fanfic that will acquire the highest number of points will be the winning entry.
